I honestly don’t know when or how I met Wendy Pastrick, but I’m so happy I did. Wendy and I have been friends for a very long time. Thank you Wendy!
I think the biggest thing I can say about Wendy is that she builds communities. I suspect no one knows just how much she has done, behind the scenes at her local events in Chicago, at the national and international level, all to get people together to share & learn from one another. Wendy has been one of the guiding lights and foundational persons, and I know, not enough people are aware. For almost literally toiling in darkness, thank you Wendy.
Wendy and I have not shared a technical track the way I have with others. Her specialties & mine just never interesected, so I can’t tell you a learned a lot from her. However, I watched her present on many occasions to learn how to do that part of my job better. She’s good. Very good. For all that guidance, thanks Wendy.
Wendy and I also served on the board of PASS. Here, there are no words. Thank you, Wendy Pastrick. You know why.
Thanks Wendy for those morning walks back to the hotel from Thirteen Coins. Thanks Wendy for that podcast that I was supposed to be at, but slept through (I still regret that one). Thanks for all those behind the scenes chats. You’re simply awesome. Thank you!
Cool Beans Grant, I have been following all of you since 1998\99 when I trained on SQL 7 and got my MCDBA that wrote articles and presented. I think Steve Jones was the first one I located to enhance my SQL Skills back in the hum swank site days even before SQL Server Central. I ended up in the PSSUG pack and did some presentations way back. Nice Beni from Red gate enjoy the time.
SQL Shark
Thanks! Here’s to another 20 years or so.
